Mission imPossible?

To be a missional church we have to learn to show Christ 24/7 in our neighborhood.

( ) Possible
( ) Impossible

How does Christ want the church of today to fulfill its mission? What issues does God want us to be concerned with? What is your mission? Which challenges will your church have to face to be missional? The missional church is a community of believers who in their own context want to fulfill God’s mission with passion and authenticity.

Your mission as a person or church will really be fulfilled when you make friends with unbelievers and introduce them to Christ. God did not send Jesus to the temple, but sent him into the world. His adversaries were troubled by the fact that he was a friend of sinners. If we want to follow Jesus we will not escape that same fate.

We often see that churches are stuck in forms that have been familiar for so long and have assumed that they are the New Testament models for being church. There is however not one single New Testament model. Most Bible references about the church are more descriptive than prescriptive.

A key to becoming a more contemporary missional church is opening up to ministries based on a passionate love for God and His involvement in the church. Becoming missional starts with a conversion in at least three areas:

a. A radical love for and relationship with Christ (Jn. 3:30, 1Cor. 2:2, Gal. 2:20, Phil. 1:21, 3:8-11).

b. A radical love for and relationship with people. (Jn. 13:35, 1Cor. 13:1; Matt. 5:46-48, 1Jn 4:19-21).

c. Sharing Christ with non-believers in word and deed. (Hand 1:8, 1Thess. 2:8).
